“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Frank Herbert, Dune

In a former life I used this in a national television commercial. In hindsight it may have been a bit much for arty Monday Night Movies.

It so profoundly fits my life now I got chills re-reading it. It’s an invocation to still the mind and calmly act — despite fear.

This is my present journey. Overcoming my own fears of failing, rejection or humiliation. Because often they’re baseless and staying calm and pushing forward shows them as such.
